Gymkhana Grid: Media Preview Day
We had the privilege of being invited to attend the first ever Gymkhana Grid Test Event & Media Preview Day which took place on Saturday August 7th from 11am-5pm at Hollywood Park in Los Angeles, CA.
The first thing we noticed when we pulled into the parking lot was Ken's new trailer and his badass Gymkhana Ford Fiesta. The car features an incredible wide chassis built by Olsbergs, and comes equipped with their MSE Maktrak magnesium six-speed paddle-shift sequential transmission along with Alcon brakes, Ohlins suspension, and a ferocious Ford Duratec engine producing over 650 wheel horsepower. Ford has clocked the car from zero to sixty in just two seconds, which is a time that our editor Tom Tang can certainly vouch for because he was given the opportunity to flag Ken off the line during one of the head to head Gymkhana test runs in the afternoon. We particularly enjoyed seeing him cringe as Ken's car rocketed off the line after a full throttle launch!
Gymkhana Grid invited several professional drivers out to the event in order to help test the course, including Kyle Mohan in his turbocharged FC3S Mazda RX7 and John Rusakoff in his turbocharged F20 powered AE86 Toyota Corolla. There were also many different media outlets in attendance, including our friends from DSPORT Magazine. We also ran into Octane Report, Live Sockets, and several others. Huge thanks to Ken, Chris, and Laura for the hospitality. We had a blast and it was great to catch up.
